Cruz Azul's Carlos Rotondi ruled out for Atlas clash due to recovery process.
Cruz Azul's Argentine player Carlos Rotondi will have to wait to return to the pitch. The player will miss the team's match against Atlas on Saturday at the Estadio Banorte due to his ongoing recovery process.
During a sports event in the south of Mexico City, Rotondi spoke with RÉCORD about his physical state and confirmed that he is not yet ready to return. "For this Saturday, no, but we are in the final stage of recovery, there is little left, but it is important not to rush to avoid falling again", he said.
Rotondi is working to complete his recovery and, although he is in the final stage, the medical staff and the player himself prefer not to accelerate the times to avoid a new injury.
The Argentine also remembered the emotion of giving the title to the machine one of the most important moments he has lived with Cruz Azul. "A great happiness, at the moment of the goal I was not falling, I dreamed of it so many times that it became a reality. It's a bit what life is, falling, getting up", he expressed.
Rotondi already thinks about what comes next
Although he is not yet able to return to activity, the player already has clear objectives that he seeks to achieve with La Máquina in the remaining semester. "To be able to continue winning titles, now we have the Campeones Cup in three weeks and the bicampeonato that we have dreamed of", he commented.
Cruz Azul is currently in 10th place in the Liga MX with 6 points, 2 wins, 0 draws and 2 losses in 4 games. The team is 4 points behind the leaders Club América. In their last match, Cruz Azul lost 2-1 to Club Tijuana on August 17.
What's next?
Cruz Azul will face Atlas in their next match, on August 23, at the Estadio Banorte.
