Cruz Azul loses Giakoumakis; his future moves away from La Noria. A few weeks before concluding his loan with PAOK of Greece, it appears that the Greek striker will not return to La Noria for the Apertura 2026. The priority of the attacker is to continue his career in European football. After several months defending the colors of the Greek team, Giakoumakis considers that he still has a market in the Old Continent and does not contemplate a return to the Liga MX when his loan expires on June 30. During his stay with PAOK, the striker managed to score important goals, although an injury limited part of his activity during the season. Despite this setback, the attacker maintains a good record in Europe and seeks to continue competing at the highest level. From the side of Cruz Azul, the scenario does not point to a second opportunity for the Greek. The cementary board does not contemplate him within the sports planning for the next tournament and is already working on the search for a new center forward to reinforce the attack of the champion team of Mexican football. In this scenario, the intention of both parties is to find a definitive solution that avoids the return of the player to the facilities of La Noria. The possibility of a purchase through a payment scheme is one of the alternatives that are on the table, so in the next few weeks it could be defined definitively the future of the attacker. If the operation is confirmed, Giakoumakis will put an end to a discreet stage with Cruz Azul, where he never managed to consolidate himself as the offensive reference that the fans expected after his arrival. Meanwhile, La Máquina will continue focused on building a competitive team that will allow it to defend the title obtained in the Clausura 2026.
