Cruz Azul has overcome its past and La Máquina is back at the top. In August 2020, Víctor Velázquez joined the club, marking a significant change in its history. The first major achievement of Velázquez with Cruz Azul was the ninth title, which Juan Reynoso crowned during the Guardianes 2021 tournament.

In July of the following year, Cruz Azul faced Atlas in the Supercopa de la Liga MX. This title was Diego Aguirre's only one with the celeste team. However, Vicente Sánchez and Joel Huiqui have brought the club to even greater achievements.

After Martín Anselmi left, who set the record for points in a season (17 games), Vicente Sánchez took over as head coach. The Uruguayan tactician won the Concachampions title but was not able to stay on as first-team manager. Nicolás Larcamón's arrival meant more offensive football. Nevertheless, results and the team's apathy ultimately buried his project. Joel Huiqui closed the Clausura 2026 with an impressive Liga MX championship.

Now, after winning the Campeón de Campeones, Cruz Azul is on track to dominate national football, as America and Toluca did recently. The celeste team aims for a back-to-back championship and a historic participation in the Copa Intercontinental.
