Cruz Azul is one of the most important teams in the history of Liga MX and CONCACAF. The team is part of the prestigious list of the four greats of Mexican football and now joins the elite of teams with 10 or more titles. The Celeste team was born on May 22, 1927, by the Cooperativa La Cruz Azul in the town of Jasso in the state of Hidalgo. The greatness of the machine began until the 1960s, when the team achieved its promotion on January 19, 1964, reaching the First Division to stay. After its arrival in the top circuit, the titles were a matter of time, and history decreed it. Almost at the end of the 1960s and during the 70s, Cruz Azul became the best team in the country, as the team won seven titles, in addition to two Champion of Champions titles and three CONCACAF Champions Leagues. After the glorious era, one of the two darkest periods of the club arrived, a drought of more than 15 years without lifting a title, which had to be broken by one of its greatest idols, Carlos Hermosillo, thanks to the 1997 championship, after defeating León in the 1997 Winter tournament. The long-awaited ninth and last crown arrived in the 2021 Guard1anes, when Cruz Azul, under the guidance of strategist Juan Reynoso, managed to defeat Santos Laguna at the Estadio Azteca, in one of the most emblematic finals of the decade due to its background. Now, five years later, without its biggest ghost in finals, Cruz Azul lifted its tenth award, at Ciudad Universitaria against Pumas de la UNAM, a stadium that less than a year ago saw it win the CONCACAF Champions League, playing as administrative locals. Walking through memory, Cruz Azul has obtained titles in different tournaments, such as 1968-69, Mexico 1970, 1971-72, 1972-73, 1973-74, 1978-79, 1979-80, Winter 1997, 2021 Guard1anes, and 2026 Clausura. The Celeste Machine continues to write its history in Liga MX, and its tenth crown is an example of its greatness. Dreaming of the future, Cruz Azul seeks to continue adding titles and making history in Mexican football. But for now, the celebration is the center of attention, and the tenth crown is the reason for pride for all Celeste Machine fans. But the team's history is not just about titles, it's also about the players who have made it possible, like Carlos Hermosillo, who was instrumental in the 1997 championship. And the current team, led by Juan Reynoso, is no exception, with its talented players and dedication to the sport.
