Cruz Azul faces a squad depth test for this afternoon's Liga MX match against Monterrey. Manager Joel Huiqui will be without midfielder Amaury García and Argentine Rodolfo Rotondi, two players who have been important contributors during the Apertura 2026.
García misses the game due to a muscular issue. His absence is a blow to the midfield, where he has provided both defensive duties and playmaking. Rotondi, who was returning to action after overcoming physical discomfort, is left out as a precautionary measure by the technical staff.

These absences come as Cruz Azul aims to sustain the form that has them sitting fourth in Liga MX with 15 points from nine games. The team, however, is coming off two consecutive defeats, the latest a 1-0 loss to Monterrey on September 20. La Máquina needs to respond to avoid losing pace in the title race, where they trail leaders Toluca by four points.
